Informational Reading
Informational Reading is nonfiction reading. Nonfiction is literature that, regardless of the subject matter, has a simple goal: to provide information. It should be based on facts and conclusions of the author's research or expertise, as opposed to the creativity of the author's imagination.
There are many text features used in nonfiction stories that are important for children to recognize and utilize when reading, such as headings, charts and graphs, captions, and diagrams. These features can greatly impact a child's comprehension of the text.
